    Busan Greet

Welcome to the website of the Busan Regional Maritime Safety Tribunal!

The jurisdiction of the Busan Regional Maritime Safety Tribunal (Busan Regional MST) covers Busan Metropolitan City, Ulsan Metropolitan City, the waters off the southeast coast of South Gyeongsang province, and the ocean waters between longitude 30 degrees West and longitude 60 degrees East (Indian Ocean in western Europe and Atlantic Ocean in eastern Africa).

Korea is an overpopulated country with a small territory and inadequate natural resources. It is thus essential for us to explore our marine resources to ensure national prosperity and also secure marine safety.

The Busan Regional MST identifies the causes of various marine accidents that occur in its jurisdiction in order to establish national measures for preventing marine accidents in the future. Furthermore, we work to enhance maritime safety by continuously promoting the lessons learned from previous marine accident cases.

We aim to operate this website as an information channel through which seafarers can learn the schedules and procedures of marine accident investigations and inquiries. We are also happy to listen to your opinions and respond to your needs effectively thorough this website.

We look forward to your continued support and interest.

    Thank you very much.

Welcome to the website of the Incheon Regional Maritime Safety Tribunal!

The Incheon Regional Maritime Safety Tribunal (Incheon Regional MST) started out as the Incheon District Marine Accidents Inquiry Committee on May 5, 1965, when the increasing shipping volumes and implementation of the national five-year development plan in the early 1960s had led to the increased size and complexity of ships. As ships became bigger, faster, and more specialized, the number of marine accidents rose significantly.

The committee changed its name to the Incheon District Marine Accidents Inquiry Agency in 1971 and again to the current Incheon Regional Maritime Safety Tribunal in 1999.

The Incheon Regional MST has jurisdiction over Incheon Metropolitan City, the waters off the west coast of Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, and North Jeolla provinces, and the ocean waters between longitude 60 degrees East and longitude 150 degrees East. The tribunal investigates about 180 cases of marine accidents every year and consequently judges about 70 cases by inquiry.

We are responsible for identifying the causes of marine accidents, imposing disciplinary measures for negligent acts, and developing corrective and preventive measures to enhance marine safety. The tribunal also provides recommendations to related organizations and parties to establish institutional remedial policies.

In addition, we send out judges and investigators to provide preventive education on marine safety, with a focus on case studies, upon the request of organizations such as the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives and Korea Shipping Association as well as shipping companies.

This website is designed to provide you with information on the Incheon Regional MST’s activities and the maritime investigation inquiry system. Please feel free to browse this site and contact us if you have any questions or comments.

    Thank you very much.

    Donghae Greet

Welcome to the website of the Donghae Regional Maritime Safety Tribunal!

The Donghae Regional Maritime Safety Tribunal (Donghae Regional MST) is responsible for investigating all types of marine accidents that occur in the waters off the east coast of North Gyeongsang and Gangwon provinces as well as in waters of the Pacific Ocean off the west coast of North America. We also endeavor to determine the circumstances and causes of maritime accidents by means of investigation and administrative litigation with the aim of preventing similar accidents in the future.

Many futurists predict that the 21st century will be the “Era of the Ocean.” However, precious human lives are lost, properties damaged, and the oceans contaminated due to the many marine accidents that occur for various reasons. Therefore, we cannot emphasize enough the importance of maritime safety.

Our entire staff are doing their absolute best to make the ocean clean and safe. We look forward to your continued support.

    Thank you very much.
